The End Of A Late Night Era

Posted: Updated:

It's an end of an era...the Jay Leno era! The late night host said a tearful farewell to The Tonight Show after his 22 year tenure. Oprah, President Barack Obama, Miley Cyrus, Garth Brooks, and Billy Crystal were just a few of the famous faces to bid him good bye.

And despite the friction between Leno and David Letterman throughout the years, Letterman was gracious enough to give Jay a big shout out on his show. As a joke, Letterman said once Jay retires...he should buy a car. Leno is known to be an avid car collector.

Even Jimmy Kimmel who criticized Leno during the whole Conan O'Brien debacle sent out a tweet sending his good wishes. Meanwhile...Conan O'Brien took a dig at Jay during his late night monologue. The former Tonight Show host talked about the Winter Games kicking off on NBC...and simply said now you can finally watch someone willing to pass the torch. Zinger!

The Tonight Show now moves to New York and new host Jimmy Fallon takes the reins.
