PHOENIX (AP) - A Mesa man faces 18 years in prison after being sentenced for fatally beating his live-in girlfriend's 4-year-old son because the boy had soiled himself.

Judge Warren Granville of Maricopa County Superior Court sentenced 26-year-old Jorge Alberto Busso Jr. on Monday.

Busso had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and attempted child abuse in the December 2010 death of Ramon Alejandro Haro Colin.

Busso's plea agreement called for a prison sentence ranging from 17 to 20 years.
