Five-year-old leukemia patient gets her wish

DAWSON COUNTY, Ga. -

A metro-Atlanta girl battling leukemia has become an overnight sensation.

Doctors diagnosed Livi Graham with leukemia in May and her life's dream may be coming true, thanks to Facebook.

Livi Graham has lots of spunk. She sits and listens as her best-friend reads to her from a book he helped illustrate called "My Friend Livi." The book talks about the five-year-old's battle with leukemia, a cancer of the blood.

Livi's mother says they discovered something was wrong with she had hip pain. and I had been in the week before and they said it was growing pains and give her Advil and went a week later for her five-year-old check up and I just had a bad feeling.

Livi is like other five-year-old's quiet and shy but don't be fooled -- she is making a name for herself. Libby's wish was a hope to be famous and meet famous people and garner lots of social media likes within days.

Livi's mother hopes the newfound attention will shine a light on that cause that is in need of support.

"I think we want for pediatric cancer to be a reality for everyone, for everybody to know what it really is and that it is extremely under funded and that we need to find a cure for it," her mother told FOX5.

And her parents are very thankful for the effort put toward making Livi's dream come true.

"Thank you for making our little girl feel so special and making her famous and it means more than we can ever express. She has been loved by the world. And we are so thankful for that."

Caring for Livi has been financially difficult for the family so they're holding a 5K run at Rock Creek Park on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.

All proceeds will go to the family.
