One person is in custody after weapons were discovered at Chamblee Charter High School Tuesday, DeKalb school officials say.
No one was injured, and the type of weapon or weapons recovered remains unclear. Officials stated during a news conference Tuesday that three large bags containing 'long guns' were recovered.
A bomb squad was called in to investigate the scene. Authorities say one teenager, 16, is in custody from this incident. The arrested individual is a student at the school, and was recently suspended, officials stated Tuesday afternoon.
Officials say the student had two loaded guns in his possession when we was arrested. Additional weapons were located near the football stadium. Officials say the student admitted to being involved in a robbery near the school, where he obtained the weapons. Authorities say the student was attempting to sell the weapons and was likely not targeting the school for violence, however the investigation continues.
Images from SKYFOX 5 showed an increased police presence around the building near dismissal. All students were dismissed safely, officials say.
