NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. -

One man is in custody and recovering from injuries after setting himself on fire inside a Covington grocery store, officials say.

Covington Police say the man was acting unruly in an aisle where rubbing alcohol was displayed. The suspect apparently opened the containers and spilled the liquid on his body. As safety officers were attempting to control the man, he reportedly ignited a lighter, catching his clothes on fire.

At least one officer is said to have burn injuries and was taken to Newton Medical Center for treatment. The suspect, who has not been identified, suffered 2nd degree burns. The case is under investigation.
