Posted: Updated:

Philadelphia Police are looking for the hit and run driver who struck and killed a 32-year-old Southwest Philadelphia man.

FOX 29 obtained surveillance video that police hope will track down that driver.

"Justice needs to be done."

This was 32-year- old Nehemiah Gredick fixing his bike on the side of the road at 62nd and Kingsessing Monday afternoon just seconds before he was struck by a hit and run driver.

"The person that did this to him needs to turn themselves in because that was truly wrong," said one of the victim's relatives at a vigil Tuesday night.

"He should have pulled over, helped that guy and tried to call for help," said Abu Bangura, who tried to comfort the victim as he lay bleeding on the highway after the crash.

Surveillance video obtained by FOX 29 News, shows the entire incident as several cars pass around Gredick while he's working on his bike. Suddenly what authorities believe is a black Jeep Cherokee strikes him head on. The SUV stops, backs up and then drives away. The SUV and the driver have not been found.

"I called 9-1-1, stayed there, til they got there and one guy came and helped with CPR," Bangura told FOX 29.

Bangura works at Kamara's Auto Repair where surveillance cameras captured the entire incident. He was the first one to the victim's side just seconds after he was run over.

"I felt so bad , my whole day was kind of crazy," he said. "The guy that hit him and run. I hope he has this in his mind and just shows up so that things will be right."

"You cannot take the life and run like that and kill somebody's child," said another worker at the garage.

Tuesday night the victim's family gathered for a vigil at the scene of the accident to remember him . They were angry and shaken by the hit and run crash. Bangura says for the family's sake, he hopes to driver comes forward.

"I hope you show up and be man enough to take care of his responsibilities," he said.

Police accident investigators say the SUV could have some right side damage to the headlight area of the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Accident Investigation District at 215-685-3180.
