Robbery reported at Arizona Humane Society center

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona Humane Society officials say someone broke into an adoption center in north Phoenix and stole up to $200 in donations meant for the care of animals.

Employees arrived at the society's Sunnyslope Adoption Center on Wednesday morning to find the glass entryway door broken and the lobby vandalized.

They say someone shattered a locked donation box and made off with the cash and coins sometime between midnight and 6 a.m. Wednesday.

No people or animals were hurt during the theft and Humane Society officials say Phoenix police has been notified of the break-in.

The Arizona Humane Society is a non-profit organization that relies solely on donations to support and care for homeless, unwanted, abused, or injured animals statewide.
