As a challenge to the state's ban on gay marriage plays out in Federal court, a group of Michigan pastors is urging the judge in the case not to strike it down. Stacy Swimp has led those reverends in protest.  He says overturning the constitutional amendment would fly in the face of voters and the word of God.  But Deadline Detroit columnist Darrell Dawsey calls that stance "horse manure."  He recently wrote why this is a perfect example of why we need to separate religion from politics.

Also, how should Lansing lawmakers use the state's $1 billion surplus?  Scott Hagerstrom from Americans for Prosperity Michigan says it should be returned to the taxpayers. He wants the state to use that money to lower the state's income tax.  But State Senator Coleman Young II (D-Detroit) thinks we should use it to fund road repairs and fix those nasty potholes causing serious damage to vehicles all over the state.

Plus, Hagerstrom and Senator Young stick around to argue whether the state should give Detroit $350 million to get the city out of bankruptcy.
