Grammy-winning Eighth Blackbird reinvents orchestra experience

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Forget everything you thought you knew about going to the orchestra. Eighth Blackbird is redefining the art of music with a unique style that's gaining worldwide recognition.

The Chicago-based six-person chamber ensemble has shed the shackles of traditional orchestras. Their viciously unique style, including an insanely hot collaboration with "Arcade Fire" bass player Richard Perry, elevates Eighth Blackbird from the more traditional orchestras.

The proud winner of three Grammy Awards, Eighth Blackbird is coming home to The Windy City for a special two-show engagement this weekend at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Ensemble members Lisa Caplin and Tim Monroe told FOX 32 News that no matter where they're playing, they're always representing Chicago.

While some might say the Grammys might be the ultimate reward, Monroe said the only thing he wants to do is inspire.

Forget everything you know about orchestras, music and art. Just listen.
