Posted: Updated:

Yik Yak is an app. According to the experts it's like Twitter, but location based so messages only can be seen within a 5 mile radius. And, the messages are anonymous.

Lt. Jeff Hallock with the Orange County Sheriffs Department says being "anonymous" makes some people more confident and willing to do things they typically aren't willing to do if they were to be identified." Hallock said that after a bomb threat to San Clemente High School via Yik Yak. No one was caught. But, it's not the first threat via Yik Yak which has also been the source of cyber-bullying. Tech experts say this is the way of the world now. There are incidents of threats and bullying across the country, but as Mike Elgan with TWIT.TV says here are lots of anonymous apps out there. He says Yik Yak is not the problem. It is just the news story of the day. And, apps like Yik Yak are not going away.
