GBI to investigate Forsyth Co. officer-involved shooting

CUMMING, Ga. -

One man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Cumming on Monday morning.

According to Deputy Doug Rainwater with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Department, the shooting happened around midnight on the 7900 block of Nicholson Road in Northwest Forsyth. 

Authorities were dispatched to an incident involving a gun when the shooting took place inside the home.

Officials say an officer was injured but he will recover. However, the 52-year-old white male who threatened officers with a firearm was shot and killed, on the scene.

Authorities have not released the identity of the man, at this time.

The three officers involved in this incident have been placed on administative leave with pay during the investigation. The GBI is now investigating.
