Late last week and over the weekend I took a few days and went to New York. The "whys" aren't as important here as the "whats" as in "what" I could do that I have never been able to do before on an airplane. You know how on a cruise ship you can take some cool pictures as you're traveling in and out of a port? With airplanes you couldn't do that as you departed or arrived at an airport. On 'take-off' and 'landing' you always had to turn-off and store your electronic devices.
Now, at least on Southwest, passengers are allowed to keep cell phones ON as long as they are ON in "airplane" mode. Guess what? In airplane mode iPhone cameras work!
I have an iPhone and I took lots of pics taking-off from Burbank, landing along Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, taking-off from Milwaukee Airport and landing at LaGuardia in NYC. On the return pics of my 'take off' from NYC, landing in Denver and, ultimately, my landing in Burbank. I also took tons of pictures in the air over the Rockies, Lake Michigan, Manhattan and captured lots of America's beauty!
Here are some of my photos and, if you haven't traveled since some airlines changed their rules, plan on taking some pictures on the way to the vacation spot where you're... planning to take pictures! Take it from this reporter taking a pic or video of a "take-off" or "landing" is very cool! :)
