Oh boy, the anti-Granholm mob will have fun with this.  They are talking in California about running the former Michigan governor for something as part of the “new generation” of D’s on the west bank.

LANSING, Mich. (WJBK) -

As Paul Harvey was fond of saying, "Now the rest of the story."

Recently in this space the report from Lt. Governor Brian Calley feeling very good about beating the Tea Party at the game of "who will run for lt. governor?"

Enter Joan Fabiano from Lansing, Tea Party leader, who thinks "just the opposite is true.  I don't think he's confident.  I think he's concerned." Which is why, she alleges, he is using various tools to "make sure he retains his position of power."

What kind of tools?

In a nutshell she alleges Mr. Calley and friends are working the system to make sure anti-Calley delegates to the nominating convention are kept to a minimum.  In what will be a simple math problem at the convention, the side that fields the most delegates wins.

"My support is very wide and very deep," Mr. Calley asserts without slapping a number on that support because there's no way to figure it right now.

Ms. Fabiano contends the number of delegates in the party are being reduced.  In Lapeer she reports two years ago 160 delegates; this year 100.  But a local party person says its because nobody was running for those posts, so why leave them on the ballot?

Ms. Fabiano also contends delegate afavdivids are not being return to local clerks and of course there was that rule change by the GOP hierarchy earlier this year which she thinks makes it harder for a challenger to challenge the incumbent.

"I think he is using all the tools of an incumbent." But isn't that just good politics?

"I wouldn't say it's good politics…I don't think its ever good to employ questionable and unprincipled tactics," she tries to take the edge off Mr. Calley's confidence.

What reporters can not get their arms around, is how deep is this dissatisfaction with Mr. Snyder and Mr. Calley.  Recent polling suggests 83% of Tea Party voters support the governor while 24% don't.  But how many of those will attend the nominating convention

If more of the 24% show-up than the 83%, Mr. Snyder may be stuck with a running mate not of his own choosing. That's what Ms. Fabiano is hoping and why Mr. Calley is working to make sure the hope is dashed in August.
