Man Googles Himself, Finds He's Most Wanted

Posted: Updated:

A Palo Alto man wanted on suspicion of firing a gun toward an inhabited dwelling in San Leandro turned himself in to police after he Googled himself and discovered he was listed on the Northern California's Most Wanted web site, police said Friday.

Christopher Viatafa was wanted in connection with an Aug. 4, 2013 incident in which he allegedly fired a number of shots while arguing with people at a party at the San Leandro Senior Center at 13909 East 14th St., according to San Leandro police.

Viatafa, 27, turned himself in after he searched for his name on a search engine and saw the "most wanted" posting.

The Northern California's Most Wanted web site, covering the area from Monterey County to the Oregon border, was launched last December in a cooperative effort involving the U.S. Marshals Service, FBI and the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center.
