LASD Lt. Steven Katz says the suspect in the alleged sexual assault of a 52-year-old female patient at County-USC Medical Center was released on $100,000 bail Thursday afternoon. He also handed out Terance Tekoh's booking photo. He said investigators want to know if anyone else has had an incident with the 25-year-old medical worker. The certified nursing assistant who had worked at the hospital since July of 2012, is accused of sexual penetration with a foreign object. Katz says he took the patient from a room to an examination room for a radiological procedure. When the two were alone "a sexual assault occurred."
Authorities say a 52-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in a County-USC Medical Center examining room as she was being prepared for a radiological procedure at the hospital in Boyle Heights. Los Angeles Police Department Lt. S. D. Katz says that about 6:30pm Wednesday, a 25-year-old certified nursing attendant named Terance Tekoh transported the female patient to the area where MRIs and CTScans are done. Police allege Tekoh sexually assaulted the woman. The actual charge is sexual penetration with a foreign object. Not long after the incident, according to a hospital official, his employment was terminated.
Authorities say Tekoh works for Cross Country Per Diem. That's a company that provides workers for the hospital. He had worked at the hospital since July of 2012. He is now being held in jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
I spoke exclusively with the victim and her family on Thursday, the day after the assault. As you could imagine, she is emotionally upset by it all. Meanwhile, the hospital is also conducting an investigation.
Tekoh is due in court April 10th.
