Mother Delivers Child On A Remote Highway

Posted: Updated:

A baby girl was born Tuesday morning in a remote location on a highway in Denver Colorado.

"When I had a couple of contractions, I knew it was time to head to the hospital," said Stephanie Simpson. "But the baby was not waiting to get the hospital.

The father, Nate Simpson, pulled over and helped his wife. After three other kids, the couple knew what to do but also knew it was important to get to a hospital, so they called 911.

The fire fighters had trouble finding the exact location at first but the soon-to-be father stayed on the phone with firefighters, and was able to direct them to their remote location.

"We train for these kinds of situations and for me, while I was a bit taken aback, I knew what to do and everything worked out perfectly," said Franktown EMT ,Peter Rousseau .

Mother and newborn Karaline were transported to Parker Adventist Hospital, where they are doing well.

Karaline is the couple's fourth daughter, said the hospital.
