Sexy Swimsuit Fun with Victoria’s Secret Models

Posted: Updated:

Pssst … I'll let you in on a little secret. Victoria's Secret models Alessandra Ambrosio and Behati Prinsloo are just as pretty in person as they are in those sexy catalogues and commercials … but even they need a little help. They were late to our interview in part because they had to finish putting on their body makeup. Yes, body makeup. Kinda makes them seem more real, right?

Whether or not you agree, one thing's for sure: Swimsuit season is here. Which is why I headed to the rooftop of the London Hotel in West Hollywood to meet these gorgeous ladies and check out the new Victoria's Secret 2014 Swim collection. Offering plenty of styles that range from sporty and fun to retro and sexy, this year's silhouettes include crop tops, high-waist bottoms and flounce styles as well as unexpected cut-out details, dangling straps and surf-inspired shapes.

While I definitely won't be sporting a belly-baring bikini anytime soon, I did see a couple of pieces I really liked including an adorable pair of ruched bottoms in mint green. Read on to find out what these Victoria's Secret angels have to say about picking the right swimsuit, turning heads at the beach and jumping out of your comfort zone..

Hi! I realize that it's sunny out and I'm all covered up while you're in bathing suits, but I came here straight from my morning segment on the flying trapeze and it was cold.

Behati: OMG we saw you! You were terrified!

Yes, I was totally terrified! Have you ever done that before?

Behati: No, but we were talking about it because I did go bungee jumping in Zambia off of Victoria Falls, which was pretty freaky.

OMG I would never, ever do that. You're definitely more of a dare devil than I am.

Behati: Well, when I saw you on the trapeze this morning I knew how you felt because I couldn't jump, I couldn't push myself off. I just melted into a ball and fell down!

Have you done other crazy things? Have you jumped out of a plane?

Behati: No, I haven't jumped out of a plane. I'm still debating if I want to do that. But I do kind of love stuff like that. I went shark diving.

Do you ladies get to do any adventurous things like that when you're out shooting for Victoria's Secret?

Behati: Yes, sometimes when we have an early day we'll play volleyball or whatever's there or we'll go swimming. I just love being in the water. The ocean is kind of my second home, so when I'm close to it I love doing anything that's available. There's not a lot of time when we're working but we definitely have fun.

Speaking of water, let's talk about the swimsuits. Is there anything for real people with real bodies?

Alessandra: Oh yes, there are lots of different things.

Behati: There's tons of stuff, what are you talking about?! I do think there is something for everybody. There are the high-waisted bottoms, which I really love. There's a lot of fun colors; the one pieces are good if you want to cover a little more. There's a lot of sportier stuff, too.

I love all the colors, especially the neon.

Behati: Yes, it's very summery, very sporty. It's a fun collection.

Which pieces in the collection are you most excited about this year?

Alessandra: Well, there's a lot of amazing trends. One is the bralet, which is the one piece. It's just very casual and easy, so it's an easy suit to wear on an everyday basis on the beach. The cut-outs are very different and unique -- they're great if you want to cover the belly. And the crop tops are adorable not just for the beach, but if you want to go for lunch or dinner with your friends you can always put it together with a high-waisted bottom and make it super cute and chic.

It must be a blast being a Victoria's Secret model.

Alessandra: Absolutely. It's amazing.

Behati: It's so much fun. I love the girls, we get along so well, they're some of my best friends.

What is your beauty routine? What do you recommend for looking good and feeling good?

Alessandra: Definitely I recommend sunblock. I love masks, so sometimes I'll do a purifying mask or a lifting mask or a moisturizing mask, it all depends. I travel a lot, so after a long flight that's like the best thing. And scrubbing is good. Eight hours of sleep a night. Keep hydrated, I love coconut water and it's really good for my skin. And green juices, too. That's what I keep drinking.

Thank you, ladies!
