Rev Run & Justine Simmons: It's Her House, and I Live There

Posted: Updated:

Joseph "Rev Run" Simmons popped in to Good Day LA Thursday morning with his wife Justine. They talked to Steve and Maria about their new diabetes awareness campaign and their show "Rev Run's Renovation".

The couple talked about how diabetes runs in their families and how they want to take preventitive measures to make sure they remain healthy. They also discussed their partnership with Novo Nordisk and explained how a simple online test could save lives (Askscreenknow.com). And of course, they talked about Run DMC!

Fun Facts About Rev Run: (Source: Wikipedia)

1) He is one of the founding members of the influential hip hop group Run–D.M.C.. He is also a practicing minister, known as Reverend Run. Simmons was born in Hollis, Queens, New York. He is the brother of Daniel "Danny" Simmons, Jr. and Russell Simmons, the co-founder of Def Jam Records.

2) He found new popularity in 2005 with his family's MTV reality show Run's House.

3) Run began using the stage name of "Rev. Run" after he was ordained as a Pentecostal minister by E. Bernard Jordan, Simmons's spiritual mentor. Jordan also named him "Protege of the Year Award" in 2004. The same day, symbolic of his "Prosperity Ministry", there was a "Rolls Royce parade outside the Plaza Hotel in New York City, "featuring Jordan's Phantom Rolls Royce. The new $325,000 Phantom had been a gift from Reverend Run as a "thank you" for Jordan's mentoring support.

Sutter Zachman had his first record deal when he was barely out of his teens. You may have seen the Orange County native was on stage at the Largo and other hot clubs around LA. He then left town...after what he called a few "bouts" with the music business, but now he is back with a new EP called ‘Repeat Offender.'
