PHOENIX -

Phoenix police need your help in locating a suspect who they believe beat a man to death after the victim offered him a beer.

On April 2, 66-year-old Kevin Serba was brutally beaten near 16th Street and Oak.

According to police, witnesses saw two men pull up in a truck.  One of them got out and punched Serba in the back of the head.

Serba was rushed to an area hospital where he later died.

Moments before the attack, surveillance video from a nearby market showed Serba buying some beer and then offering some to a man standing behind him in line.

According to Sgt. Tommy Thompson, the suspect got mad and the men exchanged words.  That's when Serba left the store.

The assault occurred minutes later about a block from the store as the victim was walking. According to Thompson, the victim fell to the ground after he was punched in the head.

At the time, police believed the suspect in the surveillance video matched the description of the suspect in Serba's beating.

On April 15, police identified 33-year-old Alberto Hernandez as the main suspect in this case.  Detectives believe he may have fled the country.

If you have any information about Hernandez's whereabouts, call the Phoenix police at (602) 262-6151 or Silent Witness at (480) WITNESS.
