'Take Me Out to the Ballgame...'

"Take Me Out to the Ballgame...Take me out the crowd..."

For the love of baseball, at least, let me watch the game in the comfort of my own home! If you're like me you likely can't watch today's season home opener at Dodger Stadium, or any other Dodger game, in fact, because you're a DirecTV customer.  The deal struck between Time Warner Cable and the new Dodgers-owned channel SportsNet LA means us 1.2 million DirecTV'ers in Los Angeles are left in the dark.  To put it bluntly, this is absurd and unacceptable.  Sure, we can listen on the radio (which can be exciting and nostalgic), head to a local sports bar (one that doesn't subscribe to DirecTV, of course), or actually go to the stadium and watch the game in person (which I look forward to doing), but in this day and age, not being able to kick back on the couch and turn on the institution that is the Dodgers is downright ludicrous.

And, here's the kicker, and I dare say it (as I have on Good Day LA): I'm not even a Dodger girl.  PLEASE! don't hold this against me. Born in San Francisco and having lived there most of my life, I'm a Giants fan.  HOWEVER, BECAUSE I'M NOW A PROUD ANGELENO, I WILL SUPPORT DODGER BLUE AND THE ANGELS (the exception being when they face my orange and black).  But, it's hard to support the Dodgers when I can't even watch them on my TV.

On that note, it looks like I'll be posting up at a neighborhood sports bar to catch today's much anticipated sold-out home opener... against the... Giants! It's Ryu v. Vogelsong. First pitch, 1:10pm.

"Let me root, root, root for the _____" (wink, wink.)
