NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) -

The 2014 Special Olympics USA Games are coming to New Jersey in June. Nearly 3,500 athletes are expected to compete.

As a young girl, Sara Chamberlain found it hard to talk to others because of her shyness.

"I never talked to people," she said. "When I use to go to middle school I would wait for all of the students to leave before I talked to my teacher."

Then she discovered the Special Olympics and it changed her life.

"I never did sports in high school," she said. "That's why I joined the Special Olympics 'cause I think it's good to learn, getting out of my shyness and how to talk to people, and it's fun."

Through Special Olympics, Sara has come out of her shell and has fun tearing up the tennis courts, something her coach has seen firsthand.

"I see more confidence in her, even her enthusiasm and meeting new people and socializing and being part of the team, I think she really thrives in that," Coach Dina Admari said. "I'm really inspired by the athletes! Their drive, their enthusiasm and their pure joy of the sport is contagious."

I was feeling inspired myself and wanted to hit the courts with Sara.

What does she want people to know about her?

"That I'm famous!" she said, laughing. "I don't know -- being like a good person I guess, and being out there."
