MESA, Ariz. -

Mesa Police have identified the couple who was found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in the parking lot of Poston Jr. High School on Sunday.

A neighborhood resident called 911 saying he found an unresponsive man with what he believed to be a gunshot wound in a car in the school's parking lot.

Police say they found 25-year-old Jonathon Vargas dead in the driver's seat and 22-year-old Victoria Gameros was unresponsive in the passenger seat.

Both of them reportedly appeared to have gunshot wounds and a handgun was inside the vehicle.

Gameros was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police say the couple lived together in Mesa and have been in a relationship for about 2 and a half years.

Officers are still investigating, but they say they believe Vargas shot Gameros before turning the gun on himself.

It's not known what led up to the shooting.

According to police, the couple isn't connected to Poston Jr. High.
