Yuma police: Woman arrested after a fatal shooting

Posted: Updated:

YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a woman who allegedly drove her father to Mexico after he reportedly fatally shot someone outside a Yuma restaurant.

Yuma police say 21-year-old Daisy Cortes was booked into jail Monday on suspicion of hindering prosecution. It's unclear if she has a lawyer yet.

Police say 44-year-old Modesto Cortes-Serrillo got into a fight with a 43-year-old man inside the Lin's Grand Buffet shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday.

Witnesses say the victim ran outside and Cortes-Serrillo allegedly shot the man multiple times.

Cortes-Serrillo fled the scene in a car and police believe he's now in Mexico.

Police say the name of the man killed is being withheld until relatives can be notified.
