HOWELL, Mich. (WJBK) - HOWELL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -- Authorities say two firefighters were in stable condition after being injured while working to put out a barn fire in Livingston County.

The Howell Area Fire Department and other area crews responded Monday to the fire in Howell Township, about 45 miles northwest of Detroit.

No one was inside the barn at the time of the fire. Authorities say one firefighter fell from a ladder onto another firefighter, injuring them both. Sources tell FOX 2 one had back and rib injuries and the other had a leg injury.

They were both transported to University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor and are expected to recover.
