DETROIT (WJBK) - A man is recovering in the hospital after what police say appears to be an intentional hit-and-run.

A woman, who wished to remain unidentified, says she was walking to a gas station near Tireman Avenue and Epworth Street on the city's west side when a man started following her.

"When I got to the gas station and went in, he waited at the door and  parked his car for like 10 minutes waiting for me to come right back out," she tells FOX 2's Randy Wimbley.

So, the woman says she called her boyfriend. He came to pick her up and is said to have exchanged some words with the apparent stalker.

"As the boyfriend and the girlfriend were walking away, the gentleman got in his vehicle, lined his vehicle up directly up behind the gentleman, turned his lights off and ran the victim over," says Detroit Lt. John Svec.

Police say the victim awoke from a coma after several days, but is still on a ventilator. He has no recollection of the incident.

Investigators say the suspect drove off in a red Cadillac, but are not sure what year the vehicle is.
