TEMPE, Ariz. -

A woman was arrested after Tempe police say she left her infant in a hot sport utility vehicle while she shopped and sipped coffee.

Police say temperature inside the SUV was 124 degrees and the child's car seat was 113 degrees.

According to the police report, the vehicle wasn't running and the child was crying and sweating profusely.  The driver's side window of the SUV was cracked open about an inch and crews were able to get the door unlocked with their tools.

Firefighters removed the child from the car quickly and the boy was transported to a local hospital for treatment.  He was later released to his father and officials say he will make a full recovery.

Police say the boy's mother, 39-year-old Maria-Theresa Pio had been inside the store for 41 minutes.

Child Protective Services was notified and Pio was booked into the Tempe City Jail on one count of child abuse.
