El Monte High School Remembers Victim In Deadly Bus Crash

Posted: Updated:

The emotion was very heavy at El Monte High School during a memorial vigil for 19-year-old Adrian Castro. Friends, family, classmates, people from the school and community that never know the teen. All here to pay their respects and remember the teen who was by all accounts funny, friendly, well liked and wanted to go to college. His dad, Raul, sat in the front row of many. He graduated from El Monte HS in 1988 and prior to the vigil said his son was his "right hand man."

The class president spoke and then opened the microphone to anyone who wanted to speak. As tears poured on stage they also did in the audience.

Adrian was killed last Thursday night when a Fed-Ex truck and a bus taking students to Humboldt State University collided.

Adrian's body has still not be positively identified by dental records or DNA, but all involved believe he perished. And, now so many in El Monte mourn.

El Monte Police estimate 2000 attended the vigil.
