Renee Graziano: My Real Life Drove Me To Write the Book

Posted: Updated:

"Mob Wife" Renee Graziano has written a book based loosely on parts of her life called "Playing With Fire". She told Lisa and Steve that writing the steamy, erotic "mob thriller" was both fun and therapeutic for her.

"My real life drove me to write the book. Basically I needed time away from my world...so my therapist had recommended...she's like 'just put it down on paper. Dating isn't healthy for you because you're going through recovery so now write about sex.' So I was like OK."

After her ex husband turned himself into the Feds and ratted out her dad in Season 2, things got really bad Renee says. But some good actually came from a horrible situation.

"My father didn't speak to me for two years, nor my sister. We started speaking after Season 2...I really emotionally broke down...so my father was like 'my daughter is way more important BUT...there's a big but, no discussion of what I do...NEVER discuss it'...he's not angry at me because I think now through the years he realizes this is not about him per say, this was really about my life and what it is that a woman goes through when they're a part of this world."

Renee says the point of the VH1 show isn't to exploit her and the other women's lifestyle, but to explain it.

"I wanted everyone to be welcomed into my world so they were able to understand a little bit more about why the women are the way they are in this world."

"Playing With Fire" is out now.
