Not long ago, former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell flexed a little of his comedic wit on twitter, admittedly at the expense of an easy mark; Justin Bieber.
"Justin Bieber is 5'6" now I understand why you guys love him!! He's the same height as all you 12-year-olds! I totally get it now sorry guys."
"Before I try to beat up the Paparazzi I make sure my mascara is perfect! (Picture of Beiber with a make-up artist)
Bell, who is about to release his third album, hosted a drop party Thursday night. And Bieber figured that was a perfect opportunity to get back at the cryptic actor. So he pulled his Mercedes weed mobile up to the party shortly after tweeting to his 51 million followers where he would be.
And as anyone could predict, a crowd showed up. And even some of Bell's fans ran out to see the idol. Then he tweeted, in Bell's voice,
"Why is Justin Bieber's van getting more attention than my album release party."
And then finally Bell replied,
@justinbieber dude ! Thank you for coming to my party I didn't know you were down stairs sorry they didn't let you in!! Should have hmu
Bieber fans have been angry that Bell would poke at their idol and fired up twitter saying so. After the party stunt, TMZ picked up the story, as did others and… voila! The publicity machine is fed! And to all the fans of either musician, understand that is what was going on all along. Celebrities use twitter as a publicity tool. Bieber and Bell likely don't hate each other anymore than Mayweather hates Pacquiao. They just both love the buzz.
Take a look at our interview with Drake. He's a likeable guy and has worked himself into a pretty accomplished ax swinger (working with Brian Setzer will rub off on you). Yeah, sure he's been helped by the faux friction with Bieber. And good for him; doesn't hurt Justin a bit. As the legendary Chick Hern used to say, "No harm, no foul". Or, as the more legendary Oscar Wilde once said, "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
