It can ruin a trip before it even starts. So do you have an idea how to make airport security better? Make the lines faster? If you do, it could earn you part of $15,000.

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - There were several runners from the valley in Boston for the race last year. Some of them running the race when the bombs went off    others in nearby hotels.

If you were watching on TV you knew what had happened.

But if you were actually near the Boston Marathon finish line, oddly, you knew a lot less about the bombing: you could not see.

That was Ann Wallack's experience. She'd watched her niece finish the marathon 20 minutes before the attack.

"We were so close and yet were confused what happened and people were coming from finish line and even people who had run past it were not sure what had happened it was a very confusing day. We were hoping it wasn't as bad as it would seem but realized it was very serious," said Ann Wallack.

Jennifer Kaplan was in Boston too that day, cheering on a friend who'd run the race. They were in the subway, leaving. Then the train stopped.

"I think it was kind of a flight or fight at that moment, because I was disoriented about where we were, I did not know how far we had gone along the train, and here I had a friend that ran a really tough marathon and people were pushing trying to get up the stairs," said Kaplan.

On the street, it was eerily quiet, then the full horror set in and after that; Boston's defiant response and recovery.

"No matter what city you're from, people as human beings like to come together to see people come together  and support each other. To see that people were running to people to help them, and support those that had been affected it was pretty incredible to see," said Kaplan.
