Glendale Police are asking for the public's help to find an arsonist who has set 17 fires since January. Most were minor, set in trash or abandoned furniture.
But early Saturday, someone set fire to an old mattress. Similar MO to the other incidents but this time, the fire in the mattress spread to a telephone pole and then a five car garage. The property manager told Fox 11, there was only one car in the garage and lots of personal items that wound up charred or in ashes. He wondered if the incident could have been worse if the car got hot enough to burn and explode.
Four blocks away, a large group of kids showed us the spot where a dumped couch burned not once but twice. The first time the fire didn't burn long but it still damaged a nearby parked car. Some time passed and according to Grigor Kocharyan, the couch was set afire again. This time it burned high enough to leave a tree's branches brown. Glendale Crime Stoppers is offering a $1000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
