Illinois pays more in wireless taxes than Ind., Wis.

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - A recent report shows Illinois cell phone users typically pay more than people in other parts of the country.

According to mywireless.org, Illinois has the fifth highest wireless tax rate in the country. It is another example Illinois taxes coming in way higher than our neighbors. Indiana's wireless tax is about 16.3 percent. Wisconsin cell phone users only pay 12.7 percent.

Once you add up all the taxes and fees in the state, Illinois residents pay more than 21 percent in taxes - that's almost 6 percent more than the national average.
