After Commissioner Adam Silver dealt out punishment against Donald Sterling the Clippers website showed a black screen with the words "We Are One." It was a message that resonated with a number of fans that went out and had "We Are One" shirts made up for the big game.
And, what a difference a day makes. Monday night it looked like we could see a sizeable boycott at the Tuesday night game. Lots of people angry of the Sterling drama. But, the boycott never materialized.
I asked one fan heading into the game "Had you ever given any thought to boycotting this game? Not at all" was the reply. Another fan told me “I was’t going to go until the announcement.
The Commissioner's announced which triggered a pair of emotions. One was excitement. Another was a desire for more from demonstrators feeling the Commissioner had done all he could and now the future of owner Sterling was up to his fellow owners.
Demonstrator Herman Jones with the National Action Network said “we need the owners to step up and say that we are not going to tolerate this in no form.”
For the most part fans I spoke with said the Commissioner did an A+ job for a guy who had only had the job for 3 months.
