PHOENIX - An 18 year-old cold case is closed after Phoenix Police made an arrest.

The family of the victim, killed in 1996, is now talking about that arrest.

For over a decade his family has waited for a call from detectives, this week they got that call saying they'd made an arrest.

70 year-old Dean Babbitt was arrested for allegedly killing his business partner Robert Krahn 18 years-ago.

"He had 18 years that my son did not have," said Bob Krahn.

His son would have been 58 years-old this year. Back in 1996 Robert Krahn was shot and killed inside a furniture warehouse off Grand Avenue. Krahn and Babbitt were partners in the business that was folding when the shooting happened.

"I still remember when my daughter said "Bobby is dead", nobody should lose their kids," he said.

For close to two decades police was Babbitt was a suspect. He and Krahn were the only two in the warehouse that morning on the day of the murder. Babbitt told authorities he thought gang members were responsible.

Cold Case Detectives say new information including crime scene reconstruction technology helped them crack the case. Babbitt is now facing a first degree murder charge.

"I don't really have anything to say to him, whatever happens happens, now we're looking for justice," said Karen Klavetter.

Krahn's sister Karen says every night she prayed for justice.

"Mom just died last July and some people have said with this recent development "well it's too bad your mom was not here", as a Christian I could never say that because my mom is orchestrating from heaven, so I'm not sad she's not here because she's got the perfect view," said Klavetter.
