Woman wounded when gunmen open fire inside South Side business

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A woman was wounded when a group of gunmen opened fire inside a store in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side.

The 20-year-old was inside a business in the 1600 block of East 71st Street about 7:30 p.m. when multiple males entered the store and opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney said.

She was shot in her right torso and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in “stable” condition, Sweeney added.

No one else was hurt in the shooting and no one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
