Katie Stevens: Faking It

American Idol alum Katie Stevens is back on TV...she stars in the new MTV series "Faking It." It's about two best friends who aren't that popular in high school..until they're "outed" at a party. Even though they're not a couple, the pair gain instant popularity so they go with it. Katie told Steve and Maria things get "complicated", which is why she took the part.

"When I first read the script it was just one of those shows that I knew was gonna be very special and i just wanted t o be a part of it...what I love about our show is that it flips all high school stereotypes on its head so the popular kids are the ones that are the most unique and then the people that we would perceive normally as popular like the jocks and the cheerleaders are the ones that are on the outskirts."

Katie also explained how she never kissed another girl until she got this gig.

"We would joke about it and then the day came and before we did it we had to practice and get all our giggles out...but now it's one of those things we've done it so much it's no big thing."

Katie also talked about her return to the show that made her: American Idol.

"Faking It" airs Tuesday at 10:30 on MTV.

1) She is an American actress and singer. Katie finished in eighth place on the ninth season of American Idol. She stars in brand new MTV series Faking It.

2) Stevens first performed for an audience at five years old, when she sang the national anthem at a party for a politician in her hometown.When she was 7 years old, she sang From This Moment On by Shania Twain at her aunt's wedding. Since she was young, Stevens has been active in her local theater community. She played the role of Dorothy in both BSS Children's Theater and Main Street Theater's Wizard of OZ. At Main Street Theater Stevens also played the role of Sharpay in High School Musical and "The Cat" in Honk. She played Nellie Forbush in Pomperaug High School's South Pacific alongside Gary Dwyer as Emile DeBeque. In addition, Stevens performed at Carnegie Hall at the age of 13.

She counts Whitney Houston and Jason Mraz among her favorite artists. Her musical influences include Taylor Swift, and her own brother, Ryan Stevens. Among the instruments she can play are guitar, piano, cello, and flute; however, she never had a chance to play them on American Idol prior to her elimination from the competition.

‘Faking It’ airs Thursdays at 10:30 on MTV.
