Florida Boy Donates Birthday Money To Local Police Department

Posted: Updated:
Ocoee, FL- A Florida boy wanted donations for his town's police department instead of asking for toys and gifts for his birthday.

Noah isn't your average 6-year-old.
He may love his New Millennium Falcon Lego set.

But, it's the only toy he asked for his 6th birthday in April

"For my 5th birthday, I raised money for the fire department, and this year I wanted to raise money for the police," Noah said.

Instead of presents, Noah asked for donations for the Ocoee Police Department.

"I just want to help them," he said.

He hit up friends, relatives, church members and local businesses for cash.

Explaining that more than birthday presents he wanted to help his community.

"I raised $1,650,” Noah said.

"He would look at me with his little freckle face and big eyes and say, 'no mommy, I don't want presents for my birthday, I just want to raise money. I get toys at Christmas," said Noah’s mother, Cheryl King.

Last year, he did the same thing for the Ocoee Fire Department pulling in more than $1,200.

"I just like to help our community because I've learned about people that keep us safe at school, so I chose to raise money for them because they help us," Noah said.
Unusual for a 6 year old, but that's just Noah.

"It teaches us, humbles us, it takes my breath away a lot. Just to see him want to give. He has a heart of gold and just wants to help everybody," his mother said.

So, what’s his birthday wish for next year?

He wishes to make an even bigger donation to the Ocoee Hospital.
