24's Jack Bauer inspires others to workout intensely

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Jack is back.

With 24 being back on the air, everyone's getting back into the military style. Some are even taking it to the next level and exercising in a boot camp training class.

Dan Wilsea of David Barton Gym created Barton Boot Camp two years ago, and its popularity has since soared.

“Everyone can be a special secret agent…pushups, sit-ups, flutter kicks,” said Wilsea. “Now it's in our Miami gym, our New York gym, our LA gym and our Las Vegas gym.”

24 fans like Anthony Diclimente can't get enough of the show, and the workout it inspired all over the country.

“You see a guy like Jack Bauer, who's able to take on anything…it inspires you to take your workout to the next level,” said Diclimente.

Many men and women want the same military training as Jack, that being one intense hour out of 24.

“I don't think it's related to males or females. However, you want to push yourself and I think just the intensity totally changes everything,” said Lindsey Williams, who took the boot camp.

It’s tough, so take everything in moderation.

“Getting yourself to get outside your head and don't really listen to that pain -- that weakness...that's really what it's all about,” added Wilsea. “Exercise is 90% mental and 10% physical.”

And those as bold as Bauer love it.

“As soon as you try it - you're like - you realize all the things…There’s so much untapped potential that we all have inside of us. Classes like this allow you to explore that. It’s pretty cool,” said Diclimente.

“It is hard, but after, you feel really good about it,” said another participant.

“It was awesome! I loved it. I'll definitely come back,” added another.

“I feel like I’m ready to collapse on the couch and watch another episode of 24,” Diclimente said with a smile.
