Iconic Kate Mantilini’s Closing In Beverly Hills

Posted: Updated:

The Hollywood Reporter called it the spot for Power Lunches and it’s the place where Hollywood deals would be closed, now Kate Mantilini Restaurant in Beverly Hills is closing too.

After operating for more than 27 years, the restaurant at the corner of Wilshire and Doheny Boulevards will close June 14th. That’s when the current lease ends, and citing irreconcilable differences with its landlord, the restaurant will close at its legendary location in Beverly Hills. But, Kate Mantilini’s second restaurant it opened in Woodland Hills will stay open.

The original Kate Mantilini’s opened back in 1987, by Harry and Marilyn Lewis, who earlier had owned the Hamburger Hamlet restaurants. But, as Kate Mantilini now closes in Beverly Hills, if the booths and tables could talk, what stories they could tell us. Stories like Madonna visiting late one night and dancing on the tables. And the producer Mel Brooks visiting nightly, greeting patrons and telling them his jokes. Now, stories that will last forever.
