Say 'I Don’t' With A Divorce Party?

Posted: Updated:

I guess in an age of “unconscious coupling” I shouldn’t be surprised by the popularity of “divorce parties” but somehow I still am. In the last few years these “freedom fests” have become all the rage. I’ve heard of these things and I guess I imagined a few close girlfriends getting together, drinking lots of wine and cursing the ex. (I’ve been the wingman a time or two in that particular occasion).

I did not, however, realize that both parties would be attending these affairs as elaborate as the wedding itself and in some cases even cutting the “freedom cake” together! What better way to start their new life “not” together! I also like the party where the bridesmaid who originally caught the bouquet throws it back at the ex-bride! If you go on Pinterest you will see countless boards with ideas for “divorce parties” including “split menus” like “filing for joint custardy” or “taramisee-ya” or my absolute favorite way to say “I don’t” the burning of the dress party. Who doesn’t love an excuse to party?

So…..Cheers…I guess. Happy Uncoupling!
