The decorated U.S. Marine and Afgan war hero, Sgt. Tahmooressi, will stay in a Mexican prison after a stunning new development in his case. That as a Judge ordered him to stay in jail on weapons charges, after the Marine is caught in a lie.
Mexican authorities claim this was not the Marine’s first trip across the border, as Sgt. Tahmooressi had claimed. Instead, prosecutors claim video at the Border Crossing shows the Marine made several trips into Mexico, even one on the very same day hours before the arrest. Sgt. Tahmoorssi now admits the lie, saying he wanted to tell the truth, but his defense attorney told him to lie. And for that, Sgt. Tahmoorssi fired his attorney.
The Marine has been sitting in a Mexican prison for almost two months, after what he claims is a simple misunderstanding. As his story goes, he was driving in San Diego and accidentially crossed the border, missing the last u-turn before heading into Mexico. In his truck at that time, Sgt. Tahmoorssi had his three guns. All are legally registered in the United States, but in Mexico, all are illegal. If convicted by a Mexican court, Sgt. Tahmoorssi could get twenty years in prison.
