(WJBK) - The Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport's McNamara Terminal was on lockdown Thursday evening after a person slipped through a security checkpoint without being screened, according the airport's spokesperson Mike Conway.

The person is said to have gotten through the checkpoint at approximately 8:45 p.m. The lockdown lasted approximately two hours.

Photos were sent into FOX 2 that showed gates blocking off areas with dozens of people standing by until further notice.

The Transportation Security Administration released this statement:

This evening, a connecting Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport passenger exited the terminal via an exit lane. He then decided to return into the terminal, ignoring the instructions of the TSA officer, and forced his way back into terminal. This individual was apprehended by law enforcement, and is now in custody. Out of an abundance of caution, airport police is sweeping the terminal prior to the airport returning to normal operations.

Press Secretary, TSA
Washington, D.C.

Feinstein also tells FOX 2 the individual arrived at the airport on a flight from Little Rock and missed a connecting flight to Los Angeles.

The Associated Press reports the individual is 22-year-old Christian Smith from Arkansas, and that he posted bond Friday morning and was released from custody.
