Man Shot And Killed Outside Hollywood Hotel

Posted: Updated:
Hollywood, CA -

From Gigi Graciette:

It started at 2:01 this morning with the sound of fire crackers going off, police say.

Or at least that's what everyone thought the loud popping sounds were, including the LAPD officers walking a foot beat on Hollywood Boulevard.

But when they walked up Las Palmas Avenue to investigate and found a man down in front of the Las Palmas Hotel , his shirt bloodied, they realized what they'd heard was actually gunfire.

"They called a rescue ambulance", said Detective Steven Katz. "And paramedics found he had a gunshot to the chest."

The man, in his 20's, was shot at least once in the chest. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital and the murder investigation was on.

Who shot him? And why?

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators spent hours in front of the hotel that was used in the movie "Pretty Woman"; combing the sidewalk and street for clues trying to answer those questions.

Meanwhile, somewhere a family will be getting some very bad news today.

Their loved one is dead and his killer is out there...somewhere.

(FOX 11 / CNS) A man was shot to death outside a Hollywood hotel early today, police said. The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. outside the Las Palmas Hotel in the 1700 block of North Las Palmas Avenue.

Officers on foot patrol on nearby Hollywood Boulevard heard shots and then found the victim unconscious on the sidewalk, said Los Angeles police Det. Steven Katz.

Paramedics determined he had been shot once in the chest, Katz said, adding that the victim was a man who appeared to be in his 20s.
