Conyers to remain on primary ballot, state will not appeal

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT -- The State of Michigan will not appeal a judge's decision to place US Representative John Conyers on the primary ballot.

Late last week, a judge ordered that the congressman be placed on the August primary ballot, overruling a decision by state election officials.

State officials had earlier declared him ineligible for the ballot because they found problems with some people who gathered signatures for him to run for another term.

Conyers has been in Congress since 1965.
