Armada teacher charged for alleged relationship with 13-year-old student

Posted: Updated:
ARMADA, Mich (WJBK) -- An Armada teacher has been charged with first degree criminal sexual misconduct, charges arising from an alleged sexual relationship with a 13-year-old student.

Robert Yaek, a 25-year-old eighth-grade science teacher, is charged with three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the first degree, one county of Distributing Sexually Explicit Matter to Children, and one count of Possession of Child Sexually Abusive Material.

FOX 2's Andrea Isom reported on the school's investigation two weeks ago.

Police allege that Yaek engaged in a series of sexual encounters with a female seventh-grade student between February and May of this year.  The acts are said to have taken place in a closet near Yaek's classroom and also in a rented house in Armada, Mich.

Yaek has resigned from the Armada School District.  He is expected to be arraigned later this week.

Yaek could face life in prison.
