NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - The secret to building a successful business from the ground up might be not having much of a plan.

"We never borrowed money; we never had a business plan," said Pamela Skaist-Levy, co-founder of the original Juicy Couture fashion line.

Skaist-Levy and business partner Gela Nash-Taylor have written a book about their non-traditional route to entrepreneurship titled, 'The Glitter Plan.'

“We invested in ourselves. We did everything ourselves. It grew organically. People think Juicy was an overnight success but it wasn't," said Skaist-Levy.

The idea behind the Juicy brand was sprung from a cheerleader and her outfit.

"I was at my son’s school and I saw this cheerleader jump up and I saw ‘cheer’ on her butt and I fainted. I went back to the office and I said Pam we’re going to put 'Juicy' on the butt of our pants," said Nash-Taylor.

The fun, southern California term had no sexual innuendo.

"We thought it was cute, not sexy," said Skaist-Levy.

With only $200, the ladies who resemble each other, created their first clothing line and later sold it. After a two-year, non-compete clause in their deal had expired, they set out with an entirely new fashion line.

"It was like being in jail. We're back. It's really amazing," said Nash- Taylor.

'Pam & Gela' is for the juicy girl today," said Nash-Taylor.

"It is not as logo driven. It's still that casual luxury. It's sort of that upscale mommy. You'll feel incredibly put together," said Skaist-Levy.

The ladies will be signing autographs at Bloomingdale's on 59th St. and Lexington Ave. on the second floor, Thursday, June 5, 6 pm- 9 pm.

I started at the Improv, no longer here, and he was a fan. I was drinking back then and I said 'I hate you.' We had a fistfight at a bar and we bonded. We love each other and yet we annoy each other," said Lewis. The pair was quite the comedic duo on the hit HBO show.
