Tommy Bahama: Paddleboard Race & Ocean Festival

2014 Santa Monica Pier Paddleboard Race & ????Ocean Festival Presented by Tommy Bahama!

Hundreds of the top stand up paddleboard racers in the world and thousands of spectators will gather at the historic Santa Monica Pier on Saturday, June 7 for the 5th Annual Santa Monica Pier Paddleboard Race & Ocean Festival Presented by Tommy Bahama. The event will feature thrilling race competitions, a lively festival, and family friendly activities.

Competition: Throughout the day, the event will showcase an exciting array of races for all level of competitors...paddleboard, dory races and a rigorous ocean swim. Top flight competitors in all categories will compete, while spectators can watch from the beach or the pier. The newest event added this year is the Tommy Bahama Paddle Cross, a high-speed sprint paddleboard race in and out through the surf. Only the fastest paddlers advance to the next round until one is named the winner. This year also marks the first year with water competitions specifically for youth. Athletes 8-17 years old are invited to participate in a 250m Swim, a Juniors Soft-Top Surfboard Race and a 1K Soft Sand Beach Run.

Festival: The Ocean Festival will feature live music and hula dancers performing throughout the event, a lifeguard and surf history pop-up museum, as well as vendors showcasing the latest in paddleboards and equipment. Adults can also cool off with a drink at the Tommy Bahama Rum Lounge or Sierra Nevada Beer Garden.

Family Friendly and FREE: From 10:30am-1:30pm, kids can enjoy beach activities such as short sand races, a sand obstacle course, beach volley, and limbo for the chance to win prizes. The event also benefits Heal the Bay, an environmental nonprofit dedicated to making Southern California coastal waters and watersheds clean.
