Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -- A barricaded gunman situation on Detroit's west side has ended.

Detroit police were on the scene that was active for several hours, starting around 10 a.m. Friday.

The home is located on the 5500 block of Ivanhoe Street, in the area of Livernois Avenue and Tireman Avenue.

SWAT was also on the scene to assist.

We're told a 36-year-old man, Derrick Woodley, armed with a gun who had just been paroled held police at bay after a fight with his girlfriend.

Later, the man decided to sneak out a side window. He ran to another home on Vancouver where police found him hiding out in the basement there.

Woodley is said to have eventually given himself up.
