Missouri Men 'Walk A Mile In Her Shoes'

Posted: Updated:

ST. LOUIS, M.O.- This isn`t your typical charity walk.

60 men in St. Louis took to the streets, sporting red high heels to show their support in helping female victims of sexual assault.

"So when a sexual assault has been committed how do you empower her? We give her, her voice back. So this is about empowering women, watching men walk in hells. Red high heel pumps!" said a YWCA Spokesperson.

It looks painful even for the former St. Louis Ram Aeneas Williams.

"No high heels. The last time I wore high heels were cleats. I have a flower and I hope that will serve as awareness to what we`re doing here today," said Williams.

One in three American women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. The YWCA has a women`s resource center that has volunteers working around the clock to serve in-crisis intervention at area emergency rooms to victims of sexual violence, as well as group counseling.

Without the money they raised the YWCA would not be able to offer cloths, shelter and support for women who have been victimized.

We did it last year and we only had about 13 people and this year we had about 50-60 people out here.

"They`re mission is all something we can believe in what a better way than to walk a mile in her shoes," remarked a volunteer.
