68-Year Old Woman Tied Up For Hours During Olney Invasion

Posted: Updated:

Philadelphia Police say a 68-year old woman was tied up for two hours during a home invasion in Olney early Tuesday morning.

Officers say the woman was sleeping in her apartment above from Tellups II, a bar she owns, when two men broke through her window, tied her up by the neck, wrist and ankles and ransacked her apartment.

She eventually freed herself to call police.

The incident happened just after 1:30am when police responded to a call on the 1300 block of West Olney.

Chief Inspector Smalls says the woman may have been targeted because she owned her bar since the 1970s. Her registered small caliber handgun was also taken.

There were few customers in the bar when the robbery took place. Police say the bar she owns had nothing to do with the home invasion.

The woman was not injured.

Detectives may have leads about the suspects because they may have not been wearing gloves during the break in. Surveillance video may have also captured the men in the area moments before the robbery.
